  5.                                                                 WELCOME TO THE LEGENDS OF OZ
  6.     THIS DOCUMENT CONTAINS IMPORTANT INFORMATION CONCERNING THE 
  7.     INSTALLATION AND OPERATION OF THE LEGENDS OF OZ.  PLEASE READ!
  8.  
  9. System Requirements:
  10.     
  11.         1. 256 Color Capable Macintosh 
  12.         2. 13" Color Monitor
  13.         3.    CD ROM Drive
  14.         4.  System Software 6.0.7 or higher, and QuickTime 1.6.1
  15.                 (included on this disc)
  16.         5.    3.5 megabytes of available RAM
  17.  
  18.                                                                                         ÑINSTALLATIONÑ
  19.  
  20. IMPORTANT:
  21.                     Please turn off any screen savers before using The Legends of OZ.
  22.                     If you are running Adobe Type Manager (ATM), please turn off this     
  23.                     extension. A conflict can cause a problem with the font display.
  24.                     Refer to your owner's manual for instructions on how to turn 
  25.                     them off.    
  26.     
  27.                     Be sure that no other applications are running.
  28.  
  29. STEP 1:
  30.                         Insert the CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive. "The Legends of OZ" icon
  31.                         will appear on your desktop. Double click on the icon to open the
  32.                         folder. Inside you will find:
  33.                                             1) "Read Me First!"
  34.                                             2) "The Legends of OZ" player
  35.                                             3) "Utilities" folder
  36.  
  37. (If you're reading this now you've already gotten this far -congratulations!)
  38.  
  39. STEP 2:
  40.                         If the QuickTime 1.6.1 extension has not yet been installed, you need     
  41.                         to put it into the "Extensions" folder which is located in the
  42.                         "System Folder" of your hard drive.
  43.  
  44.                         The QuickTime 1.6.1 extension is located in the  "Utilities" folder on
  45.                         this CD-ROM. If this extension already exists, replace it with the
  46.                         new QuickTime 1.6.1 extension.    
  47.                 
  48.                         To install QuickTIme 1.6.1, open the "Utilities"  folder and drag the 
  49.                         "QuickTime" extension into your "Extensions" folder which can be
  50.                         found in your "System Folder".

  52. STEP 3:
  53.                         Close all open windows and Restart your computer.
  54.                         Now your are ready to run the program.

  57.                                                                             ÑRUNNING THE PROGRAMÑ
  58. STEP 1:
  59.                         Open the "The Legends of OZ" icon on your desktop.
  60.                         Then double click on "The Legends of OZ" player to run the program.
  61.                         
  62. STEP 2:
  63.                         To quit the program at any time press Command-Q or
  64.                         Command-. (Period).

  67.                                                                         ÑIMPROVING PERFORMANCEÑ
  68.  
  69. MEMORY ALLOCATION:
  70.                     "The Legends of OZ" requires at least 3.5 megabytes of RAM to run
  71.                     properly. If you have more RAM available, you may want to allocate             
  72.                     more to "The Legends of OZ" to increase performance.
  73.  
  74. HOW TO CHANGE MEMORY ALLOCATION:
  75.                     1)    Open "The "Legends of OZ" CD-ROM icon and drag "The Legends
  76.                                 of OZ" player onto your hard drive.
  77.                     2)    Copying "The Legends of OZ" player onto your hard drive will enable             
  78.                                 you to change the amount of RAM allowed to the program.
  79.                     3)    Select "The Legends of OZ" icon that is on your hard drive.
  80.                                 (Make sure the program is not running.)
  81.                     4)    Once highlighted, select the "Get Info" from the "File" menu.
  82.                                 Note the box in the lower right-hand corner called
  83.                                 "Memory Requirements". Change the value of the "Preferred size"
  84.                                 box to 5,000 k or 6,000 k for optimum performance and close the         
  85.                                 "Info" window.
  86.                     5)    Now double-click on "The Legends of OZ" that is on your hard drive
  87.                                 to run the program. Make sure you have the CD-ROM inserted into
  88.                                 your drive when running the program from your hard disk.

  90. HOW TO CHANGE NUMBER OF COLORS DISPLAYED:
  91.                      Some monitors support more than 256 colors. OZ looks great in 256
  92.                         color mode, but increasing the number of colors displayed will
  93.                         significantly improve the quality of the video clips. 
  94.  
  95.                         To switch to thousands or millions of colors:
  96.  
  97.                     1)        Open your Apple Menu (found in the upper left-hand corner of
  98.                                     your screen) and select "Control Panels."
  99.                     2)         Open "Monitors" and click on the number of colors you want your
  100.                                     Macintosh to display.
